Promotion Post

A blog’s survival is entirely dependent on the readers. The readers’ feedback and support it’s what keeps bloggers going. By promoting my website, you will help me put out better quality content and expand my fan base. There are multiple ways you can do this but using social media is the best way. Social media allows you to target demographics that would be otherwise hard to reach. More specifically, sharing posts on Twitter let’s other users see my post and thus increasing web traffic. Twitter is the social media tool that I chose because it is the social media application that aligns with my future goals. Twitter has over 335 million active users so one repost can make a huge difference. The exposure that I get from Twitter will not only help me but it will also benefit the readers. Twitter also lets users engage and discuss my topics which are great ways to keep readers active on your blogs. Twitter also lets you search for potential blogs using keywords in the search function. By adding tags to my blog posts, I can help increase my visibility through the use of Twitter’s algorithmic search function.

Screencast🎥

The website I decided to review is ‘Reddit’. Reddit is pretty well known amongst the internet community but at the same time it hasn’t become mainstream like other social media sites. I started using reddit back in high school. I was back then what they called a “lurker”, which means that you never post anything whether it be questions or feedback. I didn’t actually make my first account until senior year of high school. Reddit is probably my top 3 social media applications that I use besides Twitter and Instagram. Reddit has a very diverse community and it has many different uses. It can be used for entertainment purposes or informative purposes etc.

The assignment itself was easy but downloading screencast was the more difficult task. I was having first downloading the recorder. It kept giving me a buffer every time I tried to install it. I fixed by completely closing down my browser, clearing out my cookies and trying again. After I downloaded the recorder, it took me a few tries before I got the final video down. I was reading through my classmates’ blogs and it seems like they were having technical difficulties as well. Overall, I found this assignment very helpful. It taught me how to properly narrate an video and edit the video.

Adding An Header

Adding an header to my website was a little confusing at first. In the instructions, It stated that under the appearance tab there would be an header link to upload an header but my appearance tab looked totally different and it did not have the header tab. I looked everywhere for the header tab but I couldn’t find it. At last I decided to write my header blog post first and then worry about uploading the header. I know we had the option to either upload an header or upload a picture with your blog post. In the side menu of the ‘blog’ post I can see the ‘featured image’ tab which allows me to upload a picture with my blog post. I’m not really sure if this is the same as the header tab.

Being a blogger its a lot harder than I thought It would be. This is my first time creating a website on WordPress and I must admit It has a really confusing user interface. It will definitely take some time to get used to. Maybe Its just me but I’m having a hard time following the instructions provided by the Professor as the WordPress editing page is hard to navigate through.
